The Upside Down House

The Upside Down House, as it is called, is located in Szymbark, Poland and is symbolic of the effects of communism in this country: quite literally it has turned this home upside down. Inside, it remains decorated and furnished in the style of "socialist realism" of the 1970s, and even has propaganda frozen on the TV screen. Visitors enter through a window in the roof (which is on ground level, of course) and walk on the ceilings.

This house was designed by Polish philanthropist Daniel Czapiewski and built in 2007. It took a long time to complete, however, as the construction crew had to stop often because of dizziness and disorientation.
