Roofing Wednesdays: Faroe Islands

Talk about "green" roofs! The Faroe Islands (this Denmark territory is situated in the Atlantic Ocean between Scotland and Iceland) gets nearly 300 days of rain each year, so it shouldn't be surprising that grass grows on the rooftops! The grassy rooftops actually insulate the buildings against rainfall and cold weather, and have been built like this for 1,000 years.
