The Academy of Sciences in California, designed by architect Renzo Piano, has a "living roof" which has been given the highest sustainability rating of any museum in the world from the U.S. Green Building Council: Leed Platinum. 87% of the rooftop is covered in rolling hills and fields on which local wildlife lives and is edged by solar panels. The Academy's roof provides excellent insulation, captures 100% of excess storm water, and transforms carbon dioxide into oxygen.
