Architect Gabriel Fagan designed his own home, called Die Es, in Cape Town as a personal statement. The undulating roof shape "conforms directly to the plan by enhancing the cell-like separateness of each room, while lifting to frame alternate western sea and eastern mountain views." Fagan is a national icon in South Africa famous for "championing the traditional architecture of Cape Town" and for celebrating the town's culture with his building designs.
