Roofing Wednesdays: National Centre for Performing Arts, Beijing

The National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing, China, nicknamed The Egg, is an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake and vast expanse of green space. The ultra modern design of this theater created a lot of controversy due to its being situated near the Forbidden City.

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum in Agra, India which is surrounded by five major structures and took 22 years to build. The main tomb’s domed roof was constructed from 28 varieties of semi-precious and precious gems and white marble bricks from China, Tibet, Arabia and Afghanistan.
